HEMP IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

Hemp has its’ place in the Old Testament.
1. Many of the peoples, languages and cultures mentioned in the Old Testament had a word for “cannabis:”
In Hebrew and Aramaic the word is “kaneh” or “keneh” and it means aromatic
In Sanskrit the word is “cana”
In Assyrian it was “qunnabu”
In Persian “kenab”
In Arabic “kannab”
In Chaldean “kanbun”

2. Hemp provided the incense used in the temples of Babylon and Assyria.

3. In ancient times Hebrews were required to be buried in “kaneh” — hemp — burial linen.

4. In the building of King Solomon’s temple is found an order for “hemp cords.” Lots of other stuff, too.
